Mapiri Lodge
A truly remote and epic Colombian fishing experience on and around the beautiful Guavaire River. In partnership with FishColombia this trip is sure to be a fishing experience you will never forget. Enjoy 6 days of fishing the incomparable waterfalls, lagoons, and creeks along a remote section of the Guavaire River.
This trip has it it all! Excellent Payara, Peacock Bass, Catfish, Matrinxa, Sardinata and Pacu fishing all while surrounded by the Amazon jungle. Very grateful for the partnership with the local Sikuani Indians. Your boat drivers native language is probably not spanish or english! Lodging has a fan and cot along with excellent food prepared by a trained chef. No it’s not a luxury lodge yet comfortable in some truly wild & beautiful locations. Brian, of PayaraFlyFishing, will personally be there to help teach you the ways of jungle fishing and answer any questions prior to and throughout the trip! For more details, check out FishColombia’s Mapiri Lodge
Not only is the fishing spectacular but most days you’ll be joined by pink dolphins, caiman, macaws & birds of every kind, butterflies and an almost overwhelming and incredible amount of biodoversity. Waterfalls and flowers this trip is beautiful and wild!
$4,700 + $900 indigenous fee covers everything except flight/meals to/from Bogota and tips to staff (recommend 10%). The $4,700 includes all hotels, travel, food/alcohol, etc within Colombia!
Itinerary below (agenda is subject to last minute changes):
Nov 26— Fly from home to Bogota. A FishColumbia driver will pick you up from the airport and take you directly to the Marriott Hotel (probably Marta!). Relax and have great meal or if you arrive early enough, get a tour of the city! Just don’t wander around alone…
Nov 27— Fly from Bogota to San Jose del Guavaire in the early morning followed by an intriguing and beautiful 7-8 hour boat ride to the ALL NEW Mapiri Lodge. Long day of travel but well worth it for what follows
Nov 28-Dec 3— Fish for massive Payara or Peacock Bass with side opportunities for Pacu, Sardinata, Catfish, Yamu/Matrixa, etc in world class exclusive and remote waters!
This will also include 2 nights at the upper camp at some point. Limited amenities but the highlight of the trip is usually the waterfalls and rapids of the incredible Itiviare River
Dec 4— Travel 7 hours by boat from the lodge to San Jose del Guavaire followed by a very long drive to Bogota getting back to the Marriott in the late hours of the night. Option of staying in San Jose and catching a flight to Bogota the next day.
Dec 5— Fly home, or if staying in San Jose, visit ancient Rock art.
Dec 6 (having stayed) — Fly home from Bogota.
